CLASS ETIQUETTE
STUDENT RESPONSIBIITIES

  1. Check date and time for all classes and please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.

  2. Attend all sessions, if more than one is scheduled.

  3. Students are expected to stay for the duration of the class. It can be disrupting for the tutor and others if you arrive late or leave early. Please bring everything on the requirements list.

  4. If in doubt about any item, please contact the tutor or the Guild. Remember to bring glasses or magnifier if necessary.

  5. Ensure that your mobile phone is switched off during class time.

  6. Treat the tutor and your class mates with consideration. This means that you should not have private conversations that interrupt the class. Do not monopolise the tutor's time, recognising that others share the class. Take notes of details, homework etc. and ask questions if you do not understand something. Inform the tutor if you believe there is a class problem. Undertake the project as set.

  7. Please place discarded threads etc. in a container as the class proceeds, as normally no cleaner appears after you leave.

  8. If working with paints, dyes or other messy materials it is your responsibility to ensure that any mess you make is completely cleaned up before you leave - please check table, chair and floor as well. At the end of the session all student should ensure that the room is clean and tidy: sweep/clean threads from the floor, wipe tables, and return furniture and equipment to their original places. The tutor is not there to tidy up after you!

  9. Ensure that you have washed, dried and put away your own cup, plate, cutlery, etc.

  10. Fill out the evalutation form fully and honestly. These forms are invaluable when planning future classes, and tutors are advised (in general terms) where their teaching can improve.

  11. The tutor will normally ensure that the room is secured: windows locked, curtains or blinds drawn, heating or cooling off, lights and any equipment switched off etc.

  12. As a courtesy, students are asked to volunteer to assist the tutor with any packing up and helping to move any gear to the departure point.

N.B. YOUR ATTENDANCE AT A CLASS DOES NOT ENTITLE YOU TO TEACH THE CONTENTS OF THE CLASS TO ANYONE ELSE, OR TO COPY THE TUTOR'S NOTES WITHOUT THE TUTOR'S PERMISSION.
